JR Motorsports announced today a race swap for two upcoming NASCAR Nationwide events pertaining to its No. 5 Fastenal team and drivers Scott Wimmer and Ryan Newman. Newman, previously scheduled to compete in the Kansas event on Oct. 3, will give up driving duties that weekend to participate in the Aug. 21 race at Bristol Motor Speedway. Ryan Newman will be competing for a unique racing grand slam next month at Bristol Motor Speedway. Newman, who competes in the Sprint Cup Series for Stewart-Haas Racing, will run in four different NASCAR events over four days at Bristol between Aug. 19-22. It was announced Wednesday that Newman will compete for JR Motorsports in the Nationwide Series event at the track on Aug. 21. JR Motorsports had originally planned to field Scott Wimmer in the event.

We’ve heard for a while about the possibility that Danica Patrick leaves Indy Car for NASCAR. Even though she signed with Andretti Green Racing, she has signed on with IMG to work her next contract.
