As you can see from the picture above, what TNT has brought to the past five races has simply been fun. The outstanding Pride of NASCAR feature continues with a profile of Fred Lorenzen. TNT’

TNT’s Daytona Coverage Was More Ads Than Race

Watching TNT’s coverage of the Nascar race from Daytona Beach, Fla., with friends and family on July 4, soneone in the group said the uninterrupted barrage of advertising throughout the broadcast was “like Jean-Paul Sartre’s vision of Hell in his play, ‘No Exit.’”Even one of the wildest finishes in Nascar’s storied history of flaming, upside-down, multicar, I-don’t-believe-what-I-just-saw melees could not redeem TNT’s construct of Purgatory.I have commented in this space before about the quality

KYLE BUSCH DAYTONA CRASH FAN VIDEOS

Plenty of race fans had their cameras out when Tony Stewart spun Kyle Busch on Saturday during the last lap at Daytona. The wreck was as amazing and horrific to watch from the stands as it was on television. Also, TNT, which did an excellent job covering the race and the crash, could not capture the euphoria that poured out from the stands when the Sprint Cup's most hated driver wrecked. LOUDON, N.H. - Hearing the news today that TNT announcer Bill Weber would be held out of Sunday's Sprint Cup Series Lenox Industrial Tools 301 broadcast got us thinking about a chance meeting we had with him at New Hampshire Motor Speedway back in 2006 when he was working for NBC. The incident took place following a Whelen Modified Tour event at the track. Here's what I wrote about the situation back in the summer of 2007. It was after the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour event at the

Talking NASCAR TV: Action Overload for TNT

Greetings, race fans. This past weekend brought two fairly interesting races at the Milwaukee Mile, and one very racy 350 kilometer event at Infineon Raceway. I, for one, thought that the double-file restarts were going to create chaos on Sunday since this was completely uncharted territory for restarts on road courses. However, this actually was somewhat sane. There were no pile ups at the uphill Turn 2 like everyone predicted that there would be. Now, obviously, you’re not necessarily

Matt McLaughlin Mouths Off : NASCAR Notes While Adrift In The Doldrums Of June

Wow, no wonder TNT was able to outbid ABC and FOX for this stretch of races. Last week’s Michigan race was perhaps the most tepid and unpalatable event since Jeff Burton led flag to flag at NHIS during the restrictor plate experiment that failed. And it seems unlikely that things are going to get much better with upcoming races at Sonoma, New Hampshire, and Joliet. The sport is stuck in the annual early summer doldrums which seem to have been inadvertently designed to get fans to flick o
